Olde School Commons

Property Overview

Olde School Commons is a distinctive 55+ apartment community located in the growing town of Garner, North Carolina. Designed to provide affordable housing for qualifying residents, this tax-credit community offers comfortable living in a truly unique setting.

Originally built as Old Garner High School, the property has been thoughtfully transformed into a one-of-a-kind residential community filled with historic character and charm. Because each apartment was created within the original school building, no two floor plans are exactly alike.

Each one-bedroom apartment includes a full kitchen, dining area, living room, bedroom, and bathroom, along with a walk-in closet, linen closet, and dedicated hot water heater closet. All homes feature convenient, all-electric utilities.

At Olde School Commons, residents enjoy a unique living experience that blends history, character, and comfortable senior living.

About the Community

Olde School Commons is a relaxing, friendly, and vibrant one-bedroom apartment community for qualifying residents age 55 and older.

Located on the main floor of the primary building, the Commons Room includes several tables and chairs where residents can enjoy card games, meetings, a weekly Bible study, and other community activities. The American Legion also holds regular meetings in the room, as several Olde School Commons residents are veterans.

A kitchen is attached to the Commons Room, allowing residents to reserve the space for small gatherings and events. The room also includes couches, a small television, a combination VCR/DVD player, and hundreds of movies for residents to enjoy.

Residents may reserve the Commons Room for small events, game nights, meetings, and other gatherings through the rental office and the monthly Community Calendar.

The primary building also contains the rental office and the resident mail center. Olde School Commons shares the historic building with the Garner Performing Arts Center, which is a separate organization.
